Basketball:
Basketball is a favorite among SOHC athletes. In addition to team competition. We offer individual skills competition, which allows athletes to train and compete in basic basketball skills. The development of these key skills is necessary prior to advancing to team play. These events include target pass, ten-meter dribble, and spot shot. Skills are good for those, that do not, do well in a game setting. We have basketball teams that are traditional and unified. Teams are split up into groups: Youth 8-15 (M/F), Junior 16-21, Senior 21+, and women’s teams. Practice is once a week and then several games and tournaments are scheduled throughout the season. Sectionals are held in March and if the teams advance to state tournaments, those are at the end of March.
